Day Trip to The Flower Barn in Lebanon
Be
sure to join us on August 20 for a fabulous half
day of fun, networking and some floral education!
ISES
Indiana will take its second annual field trip,
this year to The Flower Barn on Wednesday August
20th. The Flower Barn is located in a rural setting
about 30 minutes north of Indianapolis in Lebanon,
Indiana. From July through October the Barn is
hung with over 70 varieties of beautiful flowers.
All varieties are dried naturally in drying barns.
We will begin with a walking tour of the gardens
during which time The Flower Barn staff will describe
and discuss the culture of the plants, while attempting
to answer any questions.
Then
we will return to the barn for a delightful luncheon,
expertly prepared just for us. Our hosts, Norm & Ginny
Mazurowski, have a catering company as well, also
called The Flower Barn.
Following
our lunch, we will have a short program and demonstration
on the use and handling of dried floral materials.
You’ll not only be able to watch, but you’ll
be able to try your hand at making a dried floral
arrangement as well!

Member Profile
Gene Huddleson – President-Elect
2003-2004
Having
been in the event industry for more than 20 years, and
traveling throughout the country and abroad, L. Gene
Huddleson II has assembled a wonderful background in
special events. Gene began his career in Los Angeles
where he spent 13 years living and working in the
special events industry. Gene has also worked
in New York, New Jersey and in Europe accumulating
many styles and techniques along the way. Gene brought
his company to Indianapolis in 1997, starting as LGH
Design Group and expanding in 2003 to become Detail
+ Design.
With his vast experience, he has been able to bring new
and exciting aspects to all of the events he produces.
"I
believe in giving all of my clients my personal attention,"
Gene says. "I am involved in all aspects of
each event, including creating many of the items which
are designed for the event."
Floral design is an extensive part of his background
and the use of color, texture and style has always
been a particular passion for Gene. This passion
is extended
to each of his client’s events.
Gene
was chosen to be a holiday designer at the Vice President's
residence for the 1995 and 1996 holiday
season.
"This
was a thrill that I will never forget and a personal
highlight of my career so far," Gene said of the experience.
Always
looking toward the future, Gene continues to search for
new and fun ways to thrill an
event audience
with
both beautiful and theatrical moments.
Gene
enjoys his personal time and regularly treats
himself to spa days and unscheduled "days
off" where
he will catch a movie, shop and work on
the design of his new home, which will begin construction
in the fall
of 2003.
