ISES
Indiana and AMA Present:

In
this era of budget scrutiny and emphasis on results,
meeting planners look to suppliers to provide value and
justification for their event investments. Event branding
can enhance the value and reinforce the client’s
key message during the event. To be successful, this
strategy requires creativity and collaboration from every
supplier from the overall project coordinator to the
production staff at the venue to the florist. But the
effort will pay off in more client appreciation and stronger
relationships.
Guest
speakers, Crista Tharp of Tharp & Associates, Inc.
and George Sechrist of BMG, Inc., will be discussing
how to successfully brand your events.
Join
ISES Indiana and AMA on Wednesday, February 18th and
find out what you need to know in order to brand your
next big event!

Spotlight
Brian Whitis
Professional DJ Entertainment
What
does your company do? Brian Whitis
Professional DJ Entertainment specializes
in providing the most positive and
memorable DJ experience for wedding
ceremonies, receptions, holiday and
corporate parties. In addition to DJ
entertaining I also provide a variety
of Up-Lighting services to further
enhance the ambience of any event.
How
is it different than others like
it? I am the sole owner and operator
of this company so my clients work
directly with me. I spend extra time
with each client preparing for their
event to ensure they have an enjoyable,
stress free experience.
How
many years have you been in the
industry? Almost 20 years.
What
led you into the event industry? The wedding industry was a natural
progression of my DJ business.
What
was your very first job? I began
working as a manager at Great Skates
roller skating rink when I was 20 years
old. Not only did I manage the rink
but I also controlled the DJ booth
during each session. This experience
sparked my entrepreneurial enthusiasm
so I started my own DJ business.
Is
there a specific person who guided
you to your career path or has inspired
you to work as you do today? I have
owned and operated several companies
since 1992. I attribute my understanding
of business to my good friend and mentor,
Red Bledsoe. Red himself is a successful
businessman.
Why did you decide to join ISES? What
do you hope to get out of it?
I want to align myself with other event
specialists and further my knowledge
of our industry.

The
Special Event - Recap
Submitted by: Vanessa Chavez, IMA
The
Special Event - an experience of a life time in a nut shell.
This past January 2009 I was fortunate enough to attend The
Special Event (TSE) in San Diego, CA. TSE has opened my eyes
to a whole new level of the event planning world. It has
provided me with a revitalized outlook on what we all love
to do – events!!! ? During the conference I was able
to attend
various educational seminars, I spent a timeless period visiting
one of the largest Exhibit Halls I have ever
seen (very cool – I even walked away with my very own
flip book of me playing a blow-up sax!) and was fortunate
to meet countless people from all over the world during the
many exquisite networking opportunities.
Throughout the conference I was continuously
reminded how luck I am being a part
of the Indiana ISES Chapter. It truly
is an honor to sit back and take advantage
of all the opportunities TSE has to
offer to find out that many of these
wonderful ideas were executed by non-other
than our very own Indiana members.
TSE is truly an event I will never
forget.
