Meet the Incoming President

Monica Richard, partner at Detail + Design came to Indianapolis in 1999 shortly after her wedding to Paul, and began working in the event industry nearly immediately. Monica's passion along with her creativity brings a new perspective to conferences, social occasions and weddings for the Detail + Design team. From the most intimate affair to the largest of conferences and grandest of galas, Monica's background in special events is varied and diverse.

Monica's attention to detail and desire for every event to be thought of as a theatrical production first became apparent while working at the Walt Disney World Resort, where every day is treated as a special occasion. Monica's passion for lavish occasions began while working for several years at The Omni Severin Hotel making their Severin Ballroom's grand Neo-classical architecture, her home for over 6 years. After learning the industry in a classical space, Monica wanted to learn something new and followed the Omni Severin Hotel by working in an upscale, contemporary museum space, the IMA through Wolfgang Puck Catering.

Focusing on logistics, details and her wealth of knowledge about the culinary experience that are all part of an event, Monica's knowledge allows her clients to feel confident with every aspect of their event. This varied background allows Monica to see events through different lenses and allows her full creativity in the coordination of her clients' needs. Monica's strength is making her clients' experience less stressful and more magical.. Her goal is to make each of her clients feel as though they are her guests and attendees!

Monica is active in the Association of Bridal Consultants as an Accredited Bridal Consultant â„¢ having won their award at the 2005 and 2008 Art of the Table and on the core committee bringing the 2009 Business of Bride Conference to Indianapolis in November of this year. Her work in ABC only began once she realized, through ISES, the importance of belonging in professional organizations. Monica's first ISES meeting was literally two days after her start date at the Omni. From the first meeting she learned the power of networking and the importance of the monthly educational luncheon. Monica admits that with the exception of the maternity leave for her two children, Kyle and Sabrina (ages 6 and 5 repectively) she's had the third Wednesday of the month booked for her ISES meetings for 10 years. Monica served on the board two terms as the VP of Education and Programs and one term as President-Elect in 2008-2009. Monica has also attended The Special Event Show in Atlanta and San Diego each time representing ISES - Indiana on the leadership days of the conference.

In May of 2009 Monica's events were five of the eight Detail+Design events that won PACE awards. Monica's events won Best Social Event Planning Budget under $20,000, Most Creative Solution, Best Wedding $50,000 - $100,000, Best Wedding over $100,000 and Monica spearheaded the winner of Best ISES Team Effort - Event over $100,000.

  • Circle City Planners has been named the exclusive FOX 59 Event Planner for the Wedding Day Giveaway. The 4 week series features a different wedding segment each week (couple, dress, rings, and designs). We were asked to create the designs for the TV Station. As part of the process, we were able to help select the winning couple who is awarded over $25,000 from the rings, dress, photography, design, and flowers. With over 300 entries, it was such a fun process!

CCP is helping the couple with the overall event design and coordination for their big day. Julie and Ben are an amazing couple, and we are so excited that they won this once in a lifetime experience.
