A
Word From the President
Thank

Let me know
how I did! I appreciate your support, your involvement,
and your participation
in ISES sponsored events this year. Please join me, and
all former
presidents, on June 18 for the Presidents' Reception at
Morrison Opera
Place. Let's make a toast to the old, and get ready for
another exciting
ISES year! Complimentary beer and wine sponsored by some
of the former
presidents, music provided by The Original Sunny Moon, and
hors d'oeuvres
sponsored by Hoaglin Fine Catering, MBP Distinctive Catering,

Member Profile
Vince
Early - ISES Indiana V.P. of Education
Vince Early, a native of Indianapolis, started working for
Thomas Caterers of Distinction to earn extra money in High
School and then to help work his way through Collage. After
graduating from Ball State University with a Degree in Music
Education, Vince quickly realized a Teaching salary alone
would not get him very far. Therefore he continued to work
for Thomas Caterers whenever his schedule allowed. After
6 years of teaching, the opportunity presented itself for
Vince to quit teaching and work full time as Staffing Coordinator
for Thomas Caterers. After a year of recruiting, training,
motivating and evaluating staff, Vince began coordinating
events and has been at it for 4 years.
When
Vince is not planning and executing events he enjoys spending
his time with his daughter Christina, 9, and his wife Kelly
who happens to be the Owner and GM of Thomas Caterers of
Distinction. "Sleeping your way to the top does have
its advantages" says Vince. He also enjoys traveling
and playing tennis.
"I
think the position I hold on the ISES Board of fits me like
a glove", observes ISES Indiana V.P. of Education.
"Education is the key to broadening your horizons personally
and professionally. Every seminar I attend, every speaker
I see, I learn something. Even if the thing I learn is 'Don't
do that'". Vince will be practicing what he preaches
this August, which is when he will be sitting for the test
to gain his Certified Special Event Professional (CSEP)
Designation. "I believe it is a vital part in becoming
a professional in the Event Industry. It is a great way
to separate oneself from coordinators who either do this
as a hobby or do it poorly. It may not be the only way,
but it's the best way I have found. The truth is studying
for the CSEP is truly making me a better event professional".
Sue
and Tim Thomas established Thomas Caterers of Distinction
in 1983 after the fire of an arsonist destroyed their very
successful restaurant in the fall of that year. It was to
be a temporary arrangement until plans could be completed
to re-open the doors of Thomas' Restaurant. 20 years later
Thomas Caterers of Distinction stands as one of the finest
catering companies in the city of Indianapolis. Thomas specializes
in bringing the cuisine and service of the finest restaurants
in the world to the event industry.
