- Meredith Moynahan |
|
Name: Meredith
Moynahan (Soon to be Fleming)
What is your title and position at your current company?
I am Co-owner and one of the floral designers at Posh Petals
What does your company do? How is it different than others
like it?
Posh Petals provides FRESH FLOWERS for any occasion or
event. We specialize in weddings, events, corporate, sympathy,
and any other holiday such as Valentine’s Day and
Mother’s Day. We have 10 hard working employees to
help make all the magic happen?
Our look is different because we specialize in the “low
and lush” look. Every arrangement is custom made.
We try and give the designers the freedom to have fun when
picking the flowers out of the cooler when designing. We
love to play Pandora in the background to help inspire
us. I think Indianapolis was ready for the style of the
East and West coasts.
What lead you in into the event industry?
While attending college I got a job at a local flower shop.
I quickly made my way up to a designer and met my business
partner, Erika White, along the way. I have a passion for
design, color, and hard work.
Why did you decide to join ISES?
I decided to join ISES so I could get Posh Petals name
out into the industry. I wanted to meet fun people
in the
same line of work so we could network. ISES combines
all the right people to create a fabulous event or wedding.
What is your most memorable event? Why?
I told a mother of the bride that she could bring her chuppa
to the shop before the wedding and we would deliver,
set-it up, and decorate with flowers. As we were setting
it up we realized the mom forgot to bring the bolts that
held the chuppa together. Frantically, I drove the Posh
Petals van (running red lights) to the nearest hardware
store. I yelled at the young hot male employee “I
have a floral emergency” and stole him from his
customer. We got the bolts and the flowers on the chuppa
in the nick of time.
What’s one thing most people don’t
know about you?
I come from a huge extended family, I like to travel, I
would like to have kids, and I am getting married May 21st,
2011 to Michael Fleming.
If you were not in the event industry, what would be your
dream job?
I would be a high school art teacher or any job that requires
me to drive a golf cart ; )

Breaking
News! What's about to happen downtown has never
been done before. According to WISH TV, for the first time
in 117 years, the statue (“Victory”) that sits
on top of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument is coming down.
Construction to repair the damage that was caused by the recent
ice storm is scheduled to start in late March or early April.
There will be a couple of days when traffic will be restricted
as they move in cranes to do some scaffolding work.
For ISES
members, this will affect events planned on the circle and
photo opportunities, especially for weddings. It is unclear
from the reporting how long the scaffolding will be in place
but officials have confirmed that no work will be done in
the month of May and they hope to have construction complete
by
November in time for the Circle of Lights.

Certified
Special Events Professional
|
What
is Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP)?
The CSEP designation is the hallmark of professional achievement
in the special events industry. It is earned through education,
performance, experience, and service to the industry, and reflects
a commitment to professional conduct and ethics.
The CSEP designation is awarded by the International Special
Events Society (ISES) and its Certification Committee. ISES is
the only international umbrella organization representing professionals
in all disciplines of the special events industry. Education
and a commitment to professionalism are cornerstones of ISES.
Why Should I Be Certified?
The special events industry has experienced phenomenal growth
over the past several years and is changing at an even faster
pace. Today, special events are more challenging and require
a level of professionalism equal to none. Become a recipient
of the CSEP designation and set yourself apart from the competition.
