October
Meeting Recap
Here
is what you missed at the October Meeting:
Mark
Greven from Muzak in Chicago spoke about the use of scent
and music at events. "Every event has a story to tell."
Each of us should be looking at how we are pleasing the
senses at each event we do. The senses tie into your memory
of an event or a place. Think of the smell of warm apple
cider and cinnamon, or freshly baked chocolate chip cookies...does
this bring back good memories of childhood?
Music should be determined by the energy, mood, style and
audience we want or have for each event. When selecting
music we need to look at the emotion and experience we want
to create. What memories do we want the guests to leave
with?
Scentair.com is the web site for a scent machine company
our speaker talked about. They have over 2000 scent cartridges
including: Dino breath (used at the Children's Museum of
Indianapolis in the DinoSphere, apple pie (sometimes used
at appliance stores), warm sugar cookie, chocolate, ocean,
coconut, baby powder (used by a major retailer in their
children's clothing area). Scents have been shown to increase
sales up to 76% for merchants.
The next time you are out and about, stop and smell the
roses, or warm cookies or the beach!
Thanks to all who came out right before the Colt's game
for this meeting. Sodexho did a great job with a wonderful
fall buffet, delicious desserts and Witch-tini's. Many members
and prospective new members braved the haunted area of the
Museum to tour "Camp Creepy."
If you missed the Monster Mash with ISES we'll see you in
November for a great day of networking and education at
the Kendall Inn. Mark your calendar for November 16.

Spotlight
Jill
Sawyer has been with Hollywood Bar & Filmworks as the
Marketing and Promotions Director for over a year. Her position
involves everything from scheduling media appearances for
stars that visit the theater to creating and running film
based promotions. Jill also heads up the private party and
group sales department.
Promotions
at Hollywood are centered on an array of classic movies.
One of the annual promotions includes putting the family
classic “The Wizard of Oz” back on the big screen
hosted by surviving members of the original Munchkin cast.
Highlighting
movies that have released as long ago as 1939 can sometimes
prove to be challenging, but is always a success when great
partnerships throughout the city are formed. Some of the
past sponsors for events have been Marsh Supermarkets, Riley
Hospital, The Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts. Past guests
of Hollywood have included Mickey Carroll, Meinhardt Raabe,
Jerry Maren and Karl Slover (Munchkins from “The Wizard
of Oz”), Cindy Morgan who played Lacey Underall in
“Caddyshack,” and Sal Piro who is the President
of the International Rocky Horror Picture Show Fan Club.
The
next event at Hollywood Bar & Filmworks is bringing
back the holiday classic “It’s a Wonderful Life”
featuring Karolyn Grimes who played ZuZu Bailey, Jimmy Stewart’s
daughter in the film. You will remember her famous line
“Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings!”
Karolyn will be appearing at Hollywood November 25th, 26th
and 27th.
Jill
credits her success at Hollywood to a great partnership
and friendship with Angelique Brunsman, Director of Marketing
and Special Events for Hollywood Blvd. (Hollywood Bar &
Filmworks’ sister company based out of Woodridge,
IL)
In addition
to her busy professional life, Jill enjoys spending time
with her five year old daughter Logan. She also spends time
with friends at Loon Lake Lodge, one of Jill’s favorite
restaurants.
Notes
On Hollywood Filmworks:
Hollywood Bar & Filmworks is located at 247 S. Meridian
Street in downtown Indianapolis, just four blocks south
of Monument Circle. Featuring a full bar & menu with
to-your-seat service in three state of the art movie auditoriums,
Hollywood Bar & Filmworks will wow anyone looking for
a unique private event at surprisingly affordable prices.
