ISES
Indiana Education Conference Recap
October's
meeting was the Annual ISES Indiana Education
Conference: "Sat
Sail for a Sea of Education" presented by
Chair Covers & Linens on
October 17, 2007. The Indianapolis Yacht Club
created the perfect
backdrop for the Navel-themed event, complete
with heavy fog to begin
the morning!
This was the first year we have had a corporate
sponsor for the entire
event, which allowed us the opportunity to bring
in some really high
quality speakers from across the country including
Susan Southerland,
PBC, Kristy Chenell, Peter Merry, Todd Lloyd,
Bill Ferguson, CSEP and
Tracy Moran, CSEP. General Sessions included
a thought provoking
Keynote Breakfast from Susan Southerland, a lunch
presentation by Vince
Early, CSEP and Gene Huddleson on how to work
together with other
vendors to get the best outcome, and a wonderful
wine tasting and
cocktail party hosted by MBP Catering and National
Wine and Spirits to
finish off the day. Other sponsors included A-Classic
Rentals, Circle
City Basket Co., Crowne Plaza Hotel, Elite Parking
Services, Event
Lighting and Sound, Impact Group, JP Parker Flowers,
Perfect Wedding
Guide, and Unfaded Memories.
"
Recruits" were kept moving throughout the
day with the sounding of the
bosun's pipe by Navy Counselor Second Class Russell
Jensen before each
class began. Participation was encouraged during
classes and was
rewarded with raffle tickets called "chits" to
increase your chances of
earning some wonderful "shore leave" packages.
Event Lighting and Sound
provided the perfect get away to work on business
throughout the day
with their mobile business center parked right
outside the front door.
Attendees also had the opportunity to learn more
about all of our
generous sponsors in the exhibitor area, or they
could sit and network
between classes with other people.
All in all, it was an energizing, educational
day. Report cards showed
great enthusiasm for all of our speakers' topics
and most felt that they
were able to take away a great deal of knew knowledge!

Spotlight
- Tri-State
Dance Heads
1)
How long have you been in the events industry?
Between
our sister company Sneakers Productions and Dance Heads we
have been in the entertainment business for over 15 years.
2) What first
interested you in being an event professional?
We like creating specialized event entertainment
and we have been assoicated with the music
field for 25 plus years.
3) What has your best event been?
That's the great thing about our business, we like them
all, but if I had to pick just one, I would say MC'ing the
Red Carpet event at the Kentucky Derby and our associated
work with Camp Quality For Kids.
4)
What has been your worst event and how did you overcome
the challenges?
Kentucky State Fair. The fair was a great
introduction of our new Dance Heads event but due to some
error in our spotlight location and the audio production
we had to work very closely with our neighbors who were
surprised by the type of event we offered being placed
around them. It all worked out in the end.
5)
How did you first learn about ISES Indiana?
Referred by our Corporate office and the CIncinnati ISES group. Since we are
a franchise for Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana was a nature fit.
6)
What do you feel the value is of being an ISES Member?
Lots of professionals coming together in a single location who can share ideas
and recommendations.
Words
of Wisdom: please share a favorite quote or something
that you would like to pass on to others.
Quality of service will be the judge of how long
you exist!
