What better way to use your membership
then by getting involved. If you want to meet new people
and represent your company, consider sitting on a committee.
Listed below are three committees that ISES Indiana has
to offer and the time commitment that is required. If something
sparks your interest contact ISES Indiana and let the good
times begin. There will be more information to come in
the following months on other committees.
Membership Committee:
The Membership Committee has the task of making sure our
membership is informed and new members are welcome. We
are looking for committee members to help
greet guests as they enter meetings, conduct new member
orientations and help recruit/maintain our membership.
Time commitment could be as simple as greeting guests for
a half hour before meetings to attending bi-monthly committee
meetings.
Please contact Kari Strolberg, CSEP at 423.3590 if you
would like to join this committee.
PACE Committee:
The next committee meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at Bazbeaux
Pizza in Broad Ripple at 6:00pm. As a committee member (approximate time commitment
of 8-12 hours total) we will meet 4 - 6 times over the next 5 months to put
together this GREAT event. We are looking for people with a variety of talents
so please join.
Please contact Casey Scott, casey.scott@hoaglinfinecatering.com,
if you would like to join this committee
Communications Committee:
This committee will meet once a month to review information for the newsletter.
Committee positions available are as follows:
- Press Releases
- Member Spotlight Section
- Monthly Meeting Recap
- The Scoop
Please contact Jason Felders, jfelders@indianahistory.org,
if you would like to sit on this committee.

The ISES Indiana Education Conference - A Continuing

21st, 2004 was hailed a resounding success by its attendees
who numbered over 60. The conference was presented by

reflected the “Back to School” theme.

“Spring Break” (Luncheon)
- The luncheon was a showcase event sponsored by BBJ Linens,

lotion wafting through the air, made the guests
feel like they were in the Islands.

Kelly Early, CSEP
Thomas
Caterers of Distinction
ISES
Indiana Past-President /
ISES Midwest Regional Vice
President
Kelly
Early started working for the family business, Thomas
Restaurant,
later to become Thomas Caterers of Distinction
when she was 12 years old. She is the daughter of then-owner
Susann Thomas. She continued this to earn extra money in
High School and then to help work her way through college
where she attended Ball State University. After leaving
Ball State University, Kelly quickly realized that her
husband Vince’s teaching salary alone would
not get them very far, so she continued to work
for Thomas
Caterers whenever her schedule allowed. After 6 years,
the opportunity presented itself for Kelly to work full
time
as Controller for Thomas Caterers, a position she held
for 3 years. Upon her Mothers’ (now Susann Thomas-Crannell)
retirement, she took the position as General Manager and
part owner that she currently holds.
When
Kelly is not working, she enjoys spending his time with
her daughter Christina, 10, and her husband Vince
who also works for Thomas Caterers of Distinction as an
Event Planner.
Kelly
acquired her Certified Special Event Professional (CSEP)
in August 2004 and currently holds a position on
the international ISES board as the Midwest Regional Vice-President
(RVP). Her responsibilities as Midwest RVP include overseeing
operations of 7 Midwest ISES Chapters, including Indiana,
Cincinnati, Columbus, Missouri, Chicago, St. Paul/Minneapolis,
and Toledo.
Sue and Tim
Thomas established Thomas Caterers of Distinction in
1983 after the fire of an arsonist destroyed their very
successful restaurant in the fall of that year. It was
to be a temporary arrangement until plans could be completed
to re-open the doors of Thomas’ Restaurant. 20 years
later Thomas Caterers of Distinction stands as one of the
finest catering companies in the city of Indianapolis.
Thomas specializes in bringing the cuisine and service
of the finest restaurants in the world to the event industry.
