The Programming Committee Needs Your Help!
We are looking for planners who would like to get involved in our monthly meetings. Please look over the list of our upcoming regular monthly meetings (listed above), and choose a meeting that interests you! If chosen, you will able to assist the Programming Committee in planning and preparing for that meeting. Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated! This would be considered a sponsorship and your company’s logo would be displayed along with all other sponsors on the PowerPoint that is shown during the luncheon. Help out ISES Indiana and promote your company! If you are interested in providing support during one of the regular monthly luncheons, please contact VP of Programs and Education Lee Johnson at lee@chaircovers.net

Member Spotlight
Carrie O' Brien
Party Time Rental

1) How long have you been in the events industry? About 8 1/2 years.

2) What first interested you in being an event professional? My mom always threw great birthday parties for us---with all the details. When I went to college, I went for Entrepreneurship and really wanted to open my own Flower Shop. When I realized what "owning a business" may entail, I switched my major to Organizational Communications and Marketing---hoping I could tie the two together to do something with events or PR. I fell into an internship at Party Time, and here I am today!

3) What has your best event been?
I have so many events that stand out for different reasons. There is not one that necessarily stands out. I've done some great up-scale and high-dollar weddings that I'm very proud. But I've done so many where I've formed great relationships with the clients and other vendors--those are just as memorable.

4) What has been your worst event and how did you overcome the challenges?
The hardest thing to overcome in what I do is last minute requests---even after I thought my part was complete. I try and avoid "I'm just the Rental Company" attitude and try to just get it done---this usually means relying on other vendors for help. Weather always creates a challenge in what I do!

5) How did you first learn about ISES Indiana?
One of our owners was very involved in ISES when I first started. He took us to the lunches and made us call people for membership drives. The more I went to events and spoke with other vendors, the more I enjoyed getting involved and my job in general.

6) What do you feel the value is of being an ISES Member?
I think it's awesome to know that there is such a large group of people in this city to rely on when needed. To have met someone at a meeting or an event one month, and call them 4 months later to ask a question that they may specialize in, and they remember you and are happy to help--I think that says a lot.

7) Words of Wisdom: please share a favorite quote or something that you would like to pass on to others.
From the words of the great songwriter, Jimmy Buffett, "Breathe in, Breathe out, Move on.........."
